GIM FAQ

Q: What is the Global Investment Management (GIM) platform?
A: GIM is our proprietary online offshore mutual fund trading system, accessible anywhere in the world with internet access.
Q: What are the advantages of using GIM?
A: GIM provides a wide selection of offshore mutual funds at various counterparties, customized fund lists, daily portfolio valuations and is renowned for its ease of use, security, accessibility, efficiency and administrative cost effectiveness.
Q: Do the offshore mutual funds have front end loads?
A: No, funds that are made available on our platform have zero-load and may be purchased at NAV.
Q: If a desired fund is not on GIM, may we request that it be made available?
A: Yes, we will coordinate with various counterparty institutions and request for specific funds to be made available, but availability is subject to the agreement between the counterparty institution and the fund family.
Q: What is the minimum portfolio size to open an account?
A: The minimum portfolio size to open an account is USD 10 Million.
Q: What offshore mutual funds will I see on the GIM?
A: We will customize a list of your preferred funds, so there will be no possibility of placing an order for a fund that is not on your list.
Q: Will I be able to place an order for a fund that I currently do not hold?
A: No, GIM will not allow you to sell a fund that you currently don’t have any shares in.
Q: Will I be able to subscribe shares for a fund when I have insufficient funds?
A: No, GIM will prevent any purchases if there is insufficient cash.
Q: How often is GIM updated?
A: GIM is updated on a daily basis.
Q: Where are the accounts opened?
A: Accounts are opened in the name of the client at selected reputable counterparty institutions globally. They are in the name of the client and we do not have any authority over any cash transfers
Q: How long does it take to open an account?
A: This process normally takes one week but is dependent on the counterparty institution where the account is setup and the complete submission of all documentary requirements.
Q: How many funds are available?
A: GIM offers over 30,000 unique offshore funds.
Q: What are the costs or fees?
A: These are dependent on your requirements, size of portfolio and counterparties chosen. Please click here to send an e-mail.
Q: Where are my assets, cash and security held?
A: Cash and securities are held by the custodian banks in a cash and security account in the name of the client. We do not have the authority to transfer cash or securities out of the client’s account.
Q: May I leverage on my investments?
A: Yes. We may introduce leverage providers who will lend up to 7x on your investments at a minimal cost over current market rates.
Q: Will I receive portfolio statements of my holdings and balances?
A: Yes. Aside from the statements sent by the counterparty banks to you and your auditors, the balances may be viewed online daily on GIM. Additionally, statements are generated and sent to you via e-mail on a daily basis.
Q: When may orders be placed on the GIM platform?
A: Orders may be placed up to 8 hours before the cut-off time.
Q: What is the best way to get assistance on the platform when placing orders?
A: Clients may either use the Live Person online help tool or call us for immediate assistance.
Q: How secure is GIM?
A: GIM has 128-bit SSL encryption and is constantly updated with the latest licensed Microsoft web technologies. On the client side, we highly recommend a minimum of 8 alphanumeric characters for the password.
Q: What are the minimum PC, browser and internet connection requirements?
A: GIM may be accessed by both PC and Mac users. However, we recommend Pentium 4 or MAC 1Ghz at the minimum for optimal performance. Browsers supported include Internet Explorer 6.0 and above, and Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.14 and above. For internet connectivity, DSL is preferred.
Q: Can wire transfers be done on GIM?
A: No. Wire transfers require letters of instruction, signed by the authorized signatories, as indicated on the account opening documentation.
